What are we praying about?  

When we pray, what are we praying about? How many of those prayers have already been answered by the promises God has made and His provision of all that we need for life and godliness? 

A study by U.S. News and Beliefnet shows that people are praying for:

Guidance, Success 93%

  • 1 Corinthians 1:30 – ...you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God…
  • 1 Corinthians 2:16 – For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him?  But we have the mind of Christ.
  • James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
  • 2 Corinthians 2:14 – Thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ
  • Jehovah-Rohi – The Lord my Shepherd - Psalm 23
  • Jehovah-Nissi – The Lord My Banner - Exodus 17:15

How to access the promises of God in Christ:

  • 2 Corinthians 1:20 – For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
