Wake Up

Have you ever tried to wake up a person who is a deep sleeper?  I can remember in college, pulling all night study sessions the night before an exam. Then then the next day I would drift off during the test and the only thing that would get my attention would be when my professor forcefully shook my desk.  It go my attention, startled me, and drastically woke me up to a test covered in drool.

Sometimes we are guilty of falling asleep in our spiritual lives.  We get too comfortable, kind of just live life on auto pilot.  We are programmed Christians, who are basically good people, who go to church, and claim the name of Christ.  However, there is no real passion for God, no desperately seeking Him, or a life of service for Him that would involve any real sense of urgency or risk-taking.  That is why we need God to step in and wake us up. Sometimes it takes tragedy, or pain, or challenging circumstances to get our attention. But out of the pain comes something beautiful and life changing.  Seems today the world is full of complacent Christians who are sleepwalking through life aimlessly. They need now more than ever for the love of Christ and the power of a Risen Savior to re-awaken them to the life of purpose and victory they were created for.

Romans 13:11 says it this way, "This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed."

So now is the time to wake up. Now is the time to hear God's voice and respond. To live and love passionately.  To make disciples. Don't keep hitting the snooze alarm on your life when God has something for you to do for Him.
